BLACK JACK

Black Jack in a Nutshell
Black Jack is essentially a game of adding and is extremely easy to learn how to play. Playing against the dealer, or the house, players basically try to draw a hand that has a total value that reaches as close to 21 as possible without going over.

How to Play Black Jack
Black Jack is known around the world as not only one of the easiest casino games to play but also as a game that gives players a very high chance of winning. You don't have to be an expert casino goer at all for this worldclass game, you simply have to have the desire to play, which is not at all hard given the entertainment value it provides.

The first thing to take notice when playing black jack is how the table is laid out and how players are positioned. A black jack table is usually semi-circular, consisting of 5 or 7 positions where people are seated.

On the table in front of each player is a small circle. This is where each player places his or her wagers. One thing that makes Black Jack unique among casino games is the vocabulary of strange terminology and slang that is used during a game, and one such example of this is THE SHOE. The shoe is the word used to describe the Deck of cards from which all cards are dealt from during a game. The shoe may contain anything from a single 52-card deck, to 6 or sometimes 8 decks.

NOTE: Jokers are not used in the game of black jack.

Online Black Jack differs from that of Casino black jack in the way that the 5 playing positions at the table can all be played at the same time by a single player. In other words, a player can play 5 hands at a time.

Step By Step This Step by step rundown of a typical round in black jack will explain exactly how to handle yourself during a game and what to do at every stage of the process. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the procedure and feel free to take notes for later reference if you are a beginner.

  1. First the player is dealt two cards for each of the active playing positions. (A position on which the player has placed a bet).
  2. The Dealer is dealt two cards. Only one of the dealer's cards is dealt face up. The other is face down. This card is called the HOLE CARD. The dealer must hit on all hands totaling 16 or less and stand on all hands totaling 17 or more.
  3. Judging by the value of the card that the dealer has turned up you must now decide on the best possible action to take based on the hand that you have.
  4. Taking a STAND. You do this when you believe that the value of your two cards is as close as possible to 21.
  5. HIT. If you feel that getting another card will bring you closer to 21 without going over you can take a HIT, and the dealer will give you another card.
  6. If you are dealt an Ace and a 10 or face card this is called a BLACK JACK, and your hand will STAND automatically. If you beat the dealer with a BLACK JACK you are paid out at 3 to 2.
  7. One you take your desired action, The dealer turns over his Hole card, and the two hands are compared. If the Dealer has 21 or a value higher than your hand you lose. If you have a value higher than the dealer you win. If both you and the dealer have a 21 than it is called a PUSH and you win back the same amount that you bet.
Possible Actions:
  1. If you are dealt a pair you may SPLIT your hand. Your pair will be divided into two separate hands with a second wager that is equal to your first wager. The four cards are now played as two separate hands.
  2. If the dealers face up card is an ace there is a possibility that the second card may make a natural black jack. In this situation the player make an INSURANCE bet. This is basically a bet that the dealer does in fact have a natural black jack. This allows you to come out even if the dealer does in fact have a black jack.
  3. If the value of your first two cards is 9, 10 or 11 you can take the DOUBLE action. This is a wager that your hand total with your next card will be higher than the dealer's completed hand. The wager is always the same as your original wager but you will be paid double should you turn out to be correct.
  4. If you have SPLIT a pair of aces and then draw a card with a value of ten, this is not a BLACK JACK. Such a hand would have a value of 21. It beats the dealer's hand value less than 21 and ties - called a PUSH - against the dealer's hand value of 21, except if the dealer's hand is a black jack.
NOTE:
If you are unsure of the rules be sure to review the rules of the specific black jack game you are playing before you start. In the black jack software the rules can usually be found in the HELP menu. This section will explain everything you need to know about the black jack game you are playing, allowing you to ensure you are not playing a black jack game with different rules without your knowledge.

STUD POKER

Stud Poker in a Nutshell
Stud poker is basically a large group of similar variations on the traditional poker game. In Stud games players receive face-down and face-up cards during different betting rounds, and are usually non-positional, which means that the first player to bet each round can change from round to round.

Although Texas Hold'em may now be the most common type of poker, Stud poker was the most popular for many years, and is still quite prevalent in casinos today. If you are familiar with poker at all, you are perfectly equipped to play virtually every variation of stud poker that exists. If you are totally new to poker, try familiarizing yourself with the traditional card values first, and you might even try playing a few games of Straight poker just to make it that much easier to get the hang od Stud poker. Either way, if you haven't played stud poker before, be sure to read over these instructions a few times and feel free to make notes if you wish.

How to Play Stud Poker
At English Harbour Casino Stud Poker maintains strict adherence to the standard Nevada Gaming Commission rules.

The main concept in English Harbour Stud poker is simple: You play against the dealer!

One mistake commonly made by new players to the game is mistaking the stud poker table with a black jack table. The tables are so similar, in fact, that it's common for players looking for stud poker in a casino to walk right over to the black jack table thinking they're sitting down to a game of stud poker. But don't let this bother you, you can always tell a stud poker table from a black jack table by the word ANTE on the table. Unlike black jack which does not include an ANTE, in stud poker this marks the place on the table where you place your ante prior to the cards being dealt.

Over all, the stud poker table is designed for entertainment value and ease of use. If you are new to the game, and unsure of the rules, not to worry. English Harbour casino allows you to play as many free rounds of the game as you like, which gives you the perfect opportunity to make sure you are totally familiar with the game before starting to play for real.

Aside from the 'ANTE', the table also has places for you to place your progressive Bets. You can also place an additional bet that is double your ante bet. BUT BE CAREFUL! You must only do this if you are absolutely sure that your hand can beat the dealer's hand. Getting too excited and making a lot of additional bets is a surefire way of losing all your money fast! Progressive bets can be placed on any hand for which you have placed an 'ANTE'.

At English Harbour Casino Progressive Caribbean Stud Poker uses six 52-card decks. Fairness is ensured at the casino using sophisticated software that shuffles the deck after each hand. Like Black Jack English Harbour casino also allows you to play 5 simultaneous positions of stud poker.

Step By Step

  1. Once an 'ANTE' is placed, the player may choose or decline to place a progressive bet.
  2. Each of the player's hands receives five face up cards. The Dealer also gets five cards with only one card is face up.
  3. This is where the work begins. You must decide whether to increase your bet to maximize your winnings - 'CALL' or to minimize your losses - 'FOLD'. You must make this decision based on the strength of your hand and on the value of the dealer's face up card. It's never an easy call. Obviously the more familiar you are with the possible card combinations the better decision you are equipped to make. Obviously as you play you will get more and more versed in all the various possible card combinations and your skill will naturally advance. For casual players this is a perfectly fine way to proceed. But if winning is your goal, you are well advised to take the time to review stud poker card combinations. This will give you the ability to carefully consider your cards against the dealer's card. The trick to winning lies in determining the chances that the dealer has a better hand than you. IMPORTANT: In English Harbour Stud poker no more cards are dealt. After you make a decision to either, fold, increase, or call, the two hands of 5 cards will be compared.
  4. Once both hands are compared, if the player's hand is of greater value than the dealer's hand, the Player wins the round.
Poker Hands Payout Progressive Payout

Royal Flush 1,000 to 1 100% of Jackpot
Straight Flush 200 to 1 10% of Jackpot
Four of a Kind 100 to 1 $500
Full House 15 to 1 $100
Flush 10 to 1 $50
Straight 4 to 1
Three of a Kind 3 to 1
Two Pairs 1 to 1
One Pair 1 to 1
Ace & King 1 to 1

NOTES:

The dealer's hand must contain at least one ace and one king in order to qualify. If the dealer's hand does not qualify, you receive 1 to 1 on your ante and your bet is returned to you without winnings.

If the dealer's hand does qualify, the best hand wins. You win 1 to 1 on the ante plus the winnings on your bet calculated according to the winnings table.

If you fold you lose your ante whether or not the dealer qualifies.

If the dealer's hand does not have a minimum poker combination of an ace-king the dealer fails to qualify. If this occurs the game is over. Your bet is returned to you together with double your 'Ante' regardless of the value of your cards.

If the dealer's hand has a lower poker combination then the your hand, you win twice your 'Ante' and you are paid out on your 'Bet' according to the paytable.

If both the dealer's and player's hands tie, the party with the next highest-ranking card is the winner. If there is an absolute tie, the player gets all their money back.

You always win on your progressive bet, even if the dealer does not qualify.

ROULETTE

Roulette in a Nutshell
We've all seen roulette played on TV and in the movies. It's perhaps the most standout game in a casino because of its distinctive spinning wheel. It's also one of the nosiest. Roulette is played by tossing a metal ball into the spinning wheel and betting on the numbers that the ball lands on. When this is done the ball bakes a loud clacking sound that is known around the world as the undisputable noise of roulette.

If you've never played roulette before it's easy to think that the game may be complicated because of all the numbers involved. The wheel and the roulette table are covered in numbers, number ranges, and charts indicating odd and even. But in fact the game is very simple, and the only skill required to play roulette is the ability to count.

Roulette is played by betting that you can predict the number that the ball will fall on when it is tossed onto the spinning roulette wheel.

The best way to introduce yourself to any Casino game, is to take the time to read the rules of the game and to familiarize yourself with what it takes to win, and what you don't want to do that will cause you to lose.

At English Harbour Casino, Roulette is designed to make learning how to play for the first time as easy as possible. If you are new to the game all you have to do is play a few rounds for free. The play for free option is the best way out there to get to know a game. And there is no limit to how long you can play. You can play as long as it takes to refine your skills to the point of perfection. You can literally become an expert before you risk any real money. But when you do start playing, you'll be in for one thrill after another.

How to play Roulette
Bets are placed on special boxes on the Roulette table. Each box represents one of any number of outcomes that the roulette wheel will produce. For instance: if you want to bet that the Roulette wheel will land on the number 10, you would place your chips on the block containing the number 10. Take the time to examine the table and how the betting sections are laid out. You can bet on a variety of outcomes, including number ranges, odd or even numbers, high or low numbers and more. Step By Step
  1. First you must decide what numbers you want to bet on. This is done by moving the mouse over the position on the table that displays the number or number range you want to bet on and left clicking. This will deposit chips on the table. Right clicking will remove chips. Bets may also be made on whether the number will be odd or even, black or red, or low or high.
  2. After your bet is placed, press the SPIN button. As the ball falls into the spinning roulette wheel it will eventually come to rest on a certain number. If the number corresponds to the bet you have made then you are a winner.

There are a variety of bets you can make in roulette that make for a very dynamic and exciting game. Your betting options are what enables you to control your play, and adds the elements of strategy and planning to roulette. Be sure to pay careful attention to the following betting options, and feel free to write them down for future reference. It may take a while to familiarize yourself with them all but roulette is such an enjoyable game that leaning as you play is perfectly fun and easy to do.

Remember Roulette is a game of prediction. If you have a good sense of physics and timing it is actually possible to increase your winnings. By taking careful notice of both the position of the ball when it enters the spinning wheel, the speed at which the wheel is turning, and the starting position of the wheel when it starts spinning, it is actually possible for the more astute player to give themselves an edge. Now keep in mind that this fine skill takes years to develop. Don't expect to be able to start playing and instantly start predicting with 100% accuracy. Give yourself a chance to develop, set goals and when you achieve them, set new ones. Roulette is a game to master and have fun while you do it.

CRAPS

Craps in a Nutshell
Craps is a historic game played out on the streets and doorsteps of people all over the world-a game cultivated by the common folk - now enjoyed by everyone. Craps is basically a numbers game played using two six sided dice. On the surface the game can appear to be very complicated because it has an almost endless number of betting options. But despite all the betting options the main principle of the game is simple: To bet whether the shooter throwing a pair of dice will be able to throw a winning combination.

The biggest element of the game of craps is all the various betting options that you have. But the great thing about craps is that you don't have to know all the betting options in order to play. Even if you only know a couple betting options you can still have a perfectly enjoyable and exciting game.

At English Harbour Casino, craps has been designed to reproduce the action and dynamics of a real craps game with the most authenticity possible.

How to Play Craps
As mentioned above Craps involves betting on the rolls of two dice. Just to remind you dice have six sides. A number from one two six is marked on each side of the dice with small dots, usually in black or white. The English Harbour casino Craps game has been expertly designed to replicate a perfectly balanced die, for the same level of fairness and integrity of the most high-class Las Vegas gaming venues.

When you roll a pair of dice the sides of the dice that land up are added together. The lowest number on a die is 1 making the lowest number you can roll in craps a 2, and the highest number you can roll a 12, made up of two sixes.

With six sides on each die there are a total of thirty six possible numbers between the two dice.

The craps table at English Harbour casino is typical of just about any craps table that you would find at any casino around the world. The table layout is a little complicated because of all the betting options. The easiest way to understand the craps table is to break it down into three sections (Left, Right, and Center). Notice that the left and right sides of the table are the same. The bets in the center are the higher bets. They are riskier but they also payout more should you win.

The Odds of Craps
The main thing to keep in mind when playing craps is that the odds of winning each roll change depend on the bet you are making. Good craps players-anyone can get good if you practice - can instantly determine the odds of a roll. But for beginners you can easily figure out the odds as well by doing a simple calculation. Now you wouldn't be able to do this at a land based casino, but the great thing about playing at English Harbour Casino is that in the privacy of your own home you can take the time to sit down and work out your best odds for any given roll.

To figure out your possible chances of rolling any number all you have to do is divide 36 by the number of possible ways that exist between the two dice to make that number. For instance to determine your odds of rolling a seven, simply divide 36 by 6.

This is just one of many strategies that exist for giving you an edge in craps. If you really want to become a skilled craps player it is a good idea to do research and talk to other players about the various strategies that they use to help ensure a certain number of wins. Also the more you play the more you will pick up on natural rhythms and patters in the rolls. This will also add to your instincts and your ability to naturally predict which bets make the most sense. Good luck!

Don't Pass Bets
The wager is placed on the DON'T PASS BAR field. A wager on the DON'T PASS BAR wins if the COME OUT ROLL of the dice is a 2 or 3 and loses if a 7 or 11 is rolled first. If you roll a 12, it is considered a tie and play continues. There are 9 types of one-roll bets:
